What a hydra facial does
A hydra facial, also called hydradermabrasion, is a medical facial done with a handpiece that exfoliates and suctions at the same time while bathing the skin in a solution. Unlike older crystal microdermabrasion, it does not scratch the skin, so it suits most skin types, including Indian skin that marks easily.

- A spiral tip cleanses and gently exfoliates the surface.
- Suction lifts oil and debris out of the pores.
- Hydrating serums are bathed into the freshly cleansed skin.
1Cleanse & exfoliate
A handpiece washes the skin and lifts away dull, dead surface cells.
2Gentle peel
A mild acid solution loosens oil and debris in the pores without the flaking a stronger peel causes.
3Extraction
Gentle vacuum suction draws out blackheads, oil and congestion while water keeps the skin comfortable.
4Hydrate & protect
Serums chosen for your skin are pushed into the fresh surface, then sunscreen goes on.
The result is skin that looks cleaner, smoother and more hydrated straight away, which is why many people book one before an event. Over a series, pores look clearer and texture more even.
Medi-facials at OrnaSkin
A facial at a dermatology clinic is chosen like any other treatment: for your skin and the problem you want to improve. The dermatologist may suggest:
| Facial treatment | Best suited to | Downtime |
|---|---|---|
| Hydra facial | Dull, dehydrated or congested skin; a glow before an event | None |
| Advance Medi Facial | Acne-prone, oily or tired skin, with medical-grade products | None |
| Chemical peel | Acne, marks, pigmentation and uneven texture | None to a few days of light flaking |
| Carbon laser peel | Oily skin, large-looking pores, a quick brightening | None |
Facials work best alongside medical treatment, not instead of it. If you have active acne, melasma or other skin conditions, those are treated first, and a facial is added to the plan where it helps.
Who it suits
Most people who want fresher, clearer, more hydrated skin: dull or tired skin, oily skin with blackheads, dry or dehydrated skin, and brides, grooms and anyone before a special occasion. It is also a gentle way to maintain results between other treatments.
It is postponed if you have an active skin infection, cold sores, sunburn or a very irritated skin condition on the face. Tell us about recent isotretinoin, retinoid creams, waxing or any allergies.
Before, during and after
Before
Come with clean skin if you can. Stop retinoid creams and scrubs two days before, and avoid waxing, threading or bleaching the face for a few days.
During
The skin is cleansed, then the handpiece works over the face in stages: exfoliation, a gentle peel, extraction and serum infusion. Some plans add a mask or calming step. You feel cool water, light suction and a slight tingle. The visit takes about 45–60 minutes.
After
Your skin may be slightly pink for an hour or so. You can return to work straight away, and wear make-up from the next day, or the same evening if needed. Use a gentle moisturiser and sunscreen, and avoid strong actives, steam and saunas for a day.
Results and how often
Expect a fresh, hydrated look the same day that lasts about a week. For lasting change in pores and texture, most people do a short series about a month apart, then maintain every month or two as their skin needs. Results vary with skin type and daily care.
Risks and how we minimise them
A hydra facial is very gentle. Mild redness for an hour or two is common. Rarely, sensitive skin reacts to the peel or a serum with stinging, a rash or a short acne flare. We choose solutions for your skin type, adjust the suction and peel strength, and avoid the treatment on irritated or infected skin.
