Wanting to look fresher without surgery is common, and the number of treatments on offer can be confusing. The simplest way to understand them is to start with what is actually changing in the face, then match each change to the treatment designed for it.
The four signs of ageing
- Movement lines: forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet, caused by repeated muscle movement.
- Lost volume: cheeks flatten, under-eye hollows and deeper nose-to-mouth folds appear as fat and bone change.
- Loosening skin: the jawline softens and skin sags as collagen and support weaken.
- Skin quality: dullness, fine crêpey lines, uneven tone and larger-looking pores.
Most people have a mix. A plan that treats only one sign often looks unbalanced.
Matching treatments to the signs
| Sign | Main options |
|---|---|
| Movement lines | Anti-wrinkle injections (Botox) |
| Lost volume | Dermal fillers |
| Loosening skin | HIFU, RF skin tightening |
| Skin quality | Skin boosters, chemical peels, erbium glass laser, medi-facials |
Anti-wrinkle injections
Tiny doses of botulinum toxin relax specific muscles so the lines they cause soften. Results appear over about a week and last a few months. Done well, expressions stay natural.
Fillers
Hyaluronic acid gels restore lost volume in the cheeks, temples, under-eyes or lips, and can soften deep folds. The so-called “liquid facelift” is simply a combination of fillers and anti-wrinkle injections planned across the whole face.
HIFU and radiofrequency
Both heat deeper layers of the skin to trigger new collagen, which tightens gradually over two to three months. HIFU reaches deeper, including the support layer surgeons lift in a facelift; radiofrequency works more on the skin itself. Our HIFU vs Botox, RF, fillers and MNRF comparison explains when to choose which. Neither replaces surgery for marked sagging.
Skin-quality treatments
Skin boosters hydrate from within; peels and fractional lasers renew the surface and build collagen; medical facials cleanse and refresh. These make the biggest difference to how “well” skin looks, and pair well with everything above.
Why a combined, gradual plan works best
- Treating several signs a little looks more natural than treating one sign a lot.
- Spacing treatments over weeks to months lets each settle and keeps changes subtle.
- Daily sunscreen and a good routine protect the investment.
Choosing who treats you
These are medical procedures. Injections need detailed knowledge of facial anatomy and how to manage complications, and energy devices need settings chosen for your skin type. Ask who will treat you, what product or device is used, and what to expect. At OrnaSkin, Dr. Smit Thakkar assesses your face first and builds a plan with you.
