HIFU skin tightening
in Rajkot

HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) lifts and tightens skin without surgery by focusing ultrasound energy at set depths under the skin, including the SMAS layer that surgical facelifts work on. The heat starts new collagen, so the jawline, cheeks and neck firm up gradually over two to three months. There are no cuts and usually no downtime.

How HIFU works

HIFU stands for high-intensity focused ultrasound. A handpiece on the skin sends ultrasound energy that converges into tiny points of heat at set depths below the surface, while the surface itself is left intact. At those points the tissue warms to the temperature at which collagen contracts and the body starts making new collagen.

Treating several depths matters. The shallower points refine the skin itself, while the deepest reach the SMAS, the fibrous supporting layer beneath the skin and fat. That is why HIFU can lift the jawline and soften jowls in a way that surface treatments cannot, without needles, cuts or recovery time. It is not a substitute for a surgical face-lift.

What HIFU can and can’t do

HIFU is good at:

  • Lifting and defining the jawline and softening early jowls.
  • Tightening under the chin and the neck, which can make a soft double chin look more defined.
  • Lifting the brows slightly and firming the cheeks.
  • Tightening loose skin on the body: arms, abdomen and flanks, thighs and buttocks.

HIFU is sometimes called a non-surgical face lift, but it is not a replacement for surgery. It suits mild to moderate loosening; heavy, overhanging skin is better assessed for a surgical opinion. It does not remove fat in a meaningful amount, and it does not treat pigmentation or acne scars. Being clear about this at the consultation is part of planning honestly. For how it compares with other options, see HIFU vs Botox, RF, fillers and MNRF.

Who it suits

HIFU suits adults, often from their late twenties to fifties, who are starting to notice softening of the jawline, neck or brows, and who want gradual, natural-looking change without downtime. It also suits people who want to maintain results after other treatments.

It is usually avoided during pregnancy, over active acne, infections or open wounds in the area, over metal implants or fillers placed very recently in the same zone, and in people with certain medical conditions that the dermatologist will ask about.

Before, during and after

Before

There is little to prepare. Come with clean skin, and tell us about any fillers, threads, implants or recent procedures in the area.

During

The area is cleaned and a thin layer of ultrasound gel is applied. The handpiece is moved across the skin in lines, delivering short pulses. You feel brief heat and a deep prickling, strongest over bone. A face and neck session takes roughly an hour.

After

You can go back to normal activities the same day. Mild redness, swelling or tenderness may last a few hours to a few days. Rarely, there is a small bruise or a patch of temporary numbness, which settles on its own. Daily sunscreen and a good skincare routine help protect the new collagen.

When you’ll see results

What to expect over time
  1. Same day

Some people notice a slight tightening as the collagen contracts.

  2. Weeks 2–4

Mild swelling has gone; new collagen starts to form.

  3. Months 2–3

The main lift and firmness become visible as collagen remodels.

  4. Around a year

Results usually last about a year or more; maintenance keeps them going.

A typical course; results vary with age, skin quality and how much loosening there is.

Our HIFU plans

At OrnaSkin, HIFU is planned as a course rather than a one-off session, tailored to the area and how much tightening you need. It can also be combined with laser toning in the same visit for people who want lifting and brighter, more even skin. For fine lines and texture we often pair it with RF skin tightening, and for lost volume with skin boosters or fillers.

Risks and how we minimise them

HIFU is non-invasive and serious side effects are rare. Possible effects include temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, small raised lines where the handpiece passed, and, rarely, temporary numbness or nerve irritation. We minimise them by choosing the right depths and energy for each area, avoiding sensitive zones over nerves, and adjusting settings to your comfort and skin thickness.

Questions about HIFU skin tightening

Does HIFU really work?

For mild to moderate loosening of the skin, studies show measurable lifting and tightening, especially along the jawline, under the chin and around the brows. The change is gradual and natural-looking rather than dramatic, and it varies from person to person. It does not replace a surgical face-lift for heavy sagging.

Does HIFU hurt?

You feel short pulses of heat and a deep prickling, strongest over bony areas such as the jawline and forehead. It is usually very tolerable, and a numbing cream can be used. Any tenderness afterwards fades within days.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Some people notice a little tightening straight away, but the real change comes as new collagen forms over two to three months. Results usually last around a year or more, and many people choose a maintenance session once a year.

Is there any downtime?

Usually none. You may have mild redness, swelling or tenderness for a few hours to a few days, and you can return to work the same day.

Can HIFU reduce a double chin?

HIFU can tighten the skin under the chin and along the jawline, which often makes the area look more defined. It is not a fat-removal treatment, so a large fullness under the chin may need a different approach, which the dermatologist will discuss.

HIFU or RF skin tightening: which is better for me?

Both use heat to build collagen. HIFU reaches deeper, down to the supportive SMAS layer, and suits loosening along the jawline and neck. Radiofrequency works more superficially and evenly and suits fine lines, texture and early laxity. Many plans use both, decided after examining your skin.
