Laser & skin technologyThe right light, for your skin.
Each laser works at a set wavelength (some at two), and each wavelength is absorbed by something different in the skin: pigment, blood or water. That is why OrnaSkin uses several devices, and why choosing and setting them is a dermatologist’s job.
Where each laser sits on the spectrum.
Pick a wavelength to see what it targets and which of our devices use it.
Schematic, not to scale: higher means absorbed more strongly.
532 nm
- Targets
- Melanin near the surface (and red blood pigment)
- Used for
- Freckles, sun spots and superficial pigment, at carefully chosen settings for brown skin.
- Our devices
- Bluecore IRIS · DEKA Picosecond laser · Cynosure Medlite
755 nm
- Targets
- Melanin in the hair follicle
- Used for
- Laser hair removal. The Motus AX delivers it in a gliding, gradual “Moveo” technique suited to Indian skin.
- Our devices
- DEKA Motus AX
~810 nm
- Targets
- Melanin in the hair, a little deeper and with less surface absorption
- Used for
- Laser hair removal with contact cooling, in a sweeping in-motion technique.
- Our devices
- Alma Soprano ICE
1064 nm
- Targets
- Melanin deeper in the skin; little absorbed at the surface
- Used for
- Laser toning, deeper and stubborn pigment and carbon peels. Generally preferred for darker skin.
- Our devices
- Bluecore IRIS · DEKA Picosecond laser · Cynosure Medlite
1550 nm
- Targets
- Water in the dermis, not pigment
- Used for
- Non-ablative fractional resurfacing for scars, pores and texture, with little downtime.
- Our devices
- Erbium glass laser
10,600 nm
- Targets
- Water, absorbed almost instantly at the surface
- Used for
- Ablative fractional CO2 resurfacing for deeper acne scars.
- Our devices
- Dolphin Fractional CO2
Our devices, by purpose.
Exact model names and which devices are at each branch are being confirmed. Every device listed here is one we use; treatments are planned at the consultation.
Laser hair removal
Two different laser types, so the right one can be chosen for your skin tone and hair.
DEKA
Motus AX
Alexandrite laser · 755 nm · Moveo in-motion
Alexandrite laser in a gliding technique that heats gradually; widely used on Indian skin.
Alma
Soprano ICE
Diode laser · In-motion with contact cooling
Diode laser with contact cooling and an in-motion technique for comfort.
Pigment & laser toning
Q-switched and picosecond lasers that break up pigment at different depths.
Bluecore
IRIS
Q-switched Nd:YAG laser · 1064 / 532 nm
Q-switched Nd:YAG for toning, pigment and carbon laser peels.
DEKA
Picosecond laser
Picosecond laser · Ultra-short pulses
Ultra-short picosecond pulses that shatter pigment with less heat.
Cynosure
Medlite
Q-switched Nd:YAG laser · 1064 / 532 nm
Q-switched Nd:YAG for pigment and toning.
Scars & resurfacing
Ablative and non-ablative fractional lasers, and a probe to release tethered scars.
Dolphin
Fractional CO2
Ablative fractional laser · 10,600 nm
Ablative fractional CO2 for deeper scars, with a few days of downtime.
Non-ablative fractional laser
Erbium glass laser
1550 nm
Non-ablative fractional laser that leaves the surface intact.
Radiofrequency-assisted subcision
RF subcision
Releases tethered scars
Releases the bands that pull rolling acne scars down.
Tightening & lifting
Radiofrequency and focused ultrasound, which heat deeper layers without a laser.
EndyMed
EndyMed PURE
3DEEP radiofrequency · Face-tightening probe + Intensif MNRF probe
3DEEP radiofrequency: a face-tightening probe for the cheeks, chin and neck, and the Intensif microneedling RF probe for scars.
High-intensity focused ultrasound
HIFU
1.5 / 3.0 / 4.5 mm depths
Focused ultrasound at set depths for lifting, including the SMAS layer.
A device is only as good as its settings.
Settings for Indian skin
Brown skin absorbs more light at the surface, so wavelength, energy, pulse and cooling are chosen to protect it. Gentler, repeated sessions often beat one strong one.
Test before you treat
Where there is doubt, a small test area is done first and checked before a full session.
The doctor decides
Devices are tools. The dermatologist chooses which one, if any, suits your concern, and when a cream or a simple procedure would do better.
Depth decides the device
Each treatment works at a chosen depth.
The dermatologist matches the device and its settings to the layer where the problem sits, and to how your skin reacts to heat and light.

Surface and upper skin
Gentle resurfacing and pigment work: peels, hydra facials and low-energy laser toning.
Dermis
Collagen remodelling and hair follicles: fractional lasers, microneedling radiofrequency and laser hair removal.
Deeper support
Focused ultrasound reaches the firm layer beneath the fat that supports facial skin, without breaking the surface.
