Doctor-checked
Every page about a condition or a treatment is checked by a dermatologist, Dr. Smit Thakkar, MBBS, DDVL, before it is marked as medically reviewed. The page then shows his name and the date of the review. Until that check is done, the page says “medical review pending”.
Drafts may be prepared with the help of writing tools; a doctor checks every medical page before it is marked as reviewed.
Sources
Medical statements are based on current dermatology textbooks, published clinical studies and professional guidelines. Where it helps, the main references are listed at the end of a page so you can read them yourself.
Written for Indian skin
Most research comes from lighter skin types. Where brown skin behaves differently, for example in how easily it darkens after heat or injury, we say so and explain how treatment is adjusted.
Honest claims
- No “best”, “guaranteed”, “permanent” or “painless” claims.
- Results are described as typical ranges, with the factors that change them.
- Risks and side effects are listed, not hidden.
- If a treatment is unlikely to help a concern, the page says so.
Prices
We show typical price ranges, not price lists, because the real cost depends on your examination. Ranges are reviewed periodically.
Photos and reviews
- Before-and-after photos are of our own patients, shown only with written consent, unedited apart from cropping for privacy, and labelled with the treatment and number of sessions.
- Illustrations are clearly illustrations. We never present computer-made images as patients, doctors or staff.
- We never write, edit or pay for reviews. Ratings link to where patients wrote them.
Independence
No device maker, product brand or advertiser pays for or influences what we write.
Updates and corrections
Pages are reviewed regularly and whenever important new evidence appears. If you think something is wrong or out of date, please tell us at help@ornaskin.com and we will check it.
